"Where's Waldo..." ( and I don't mean Jimmy ) is a phrase most of us have heard..... Waldo travels the world looking for adventure..... guess what, so do rail cars.........
Interchange service has been around since North American railroads used wood burning 4-4-0's - a car may spend it's entire life on it's home rails - or may not see them for years at a time, instead roaming the foreig... [click to vew more] |

Hi guys,
I had some computer problems for a while which are fixed for now anyway. I started working on sections of a layout just for something to do at the store since the summer time business is slow. It was going to be just for fun something to look at like a model.
I started this 3 days ago did most of the plastering after the store closed. Then I worked on some inside the office... [click to vew more] |

Over the last month, you guys have seen me find my scratchbuilding ability, and put it to use on some pretty slick buildings. Unfortunately, with all these buildings being built, I had nowhere to display them.
Enter my old layout(Medicine Mountain):

My town has released a new ordinance to beautify all the main roads within city limits. This, unfortunately means that many of the cool old buildings that are still around may be gone before too long. I am going to be scratchbuilding these places, and feature them on my old layout. This way, I could keep the memories of these old buildings alive, even after they are demolished and gone.

Some of you may have had issues getting to the site in the last day.
The problem has to do with domain registration. Our original host when we brought up the site, failed to do the domain re-registration. So the registrar reset our domain registration. When this happens it takes time to propogate through internet, so slowly more and more of you were probably loosing the site.
I APOLOGISE for the hassel.
I just got through bypassing the folks that goofed it up, and went directly to the registrar, and re-registered for a full 5 years.
AGAIN I AM SORRY THIS HAPPENED. |

SRO members - just like the tax man, I cometh to remind you that it's that time to reconsider your support to SRO.
Every year I ask you, on behalf of the membership of this fine site to consider re-newing, or becoming a "supporting member" of SRO by clicking on the About SRO tab and then clicking on the donation tab and making a donation.
It's easy - and hey, I know that money is tight - it's tight for all of us. But a movie and a small popcorn is about the same cost as supporting SRO for 365 days of fun and fellowship.... I think that's a good deal. I support SRO with my wallet, and I'm asking you to consider doing the same.
Nothing in this world is free it seems; and running SRO isn't either; just using it is - Dollars coming in or not - Steve keeps it running regardless. I hope that many of you out there will see fit to help him with the costs - 2008 will be a great year, SRO will make it better.
I personally appreciate your consideration of a donation - it will help !

When we first went live with the site, I made a running attempt at putting in polls. It was the second most requested feature after the Avatars. Well the forum mod for polls was buggy and installation of the mod had some bad directions. So I stopped the attempt and did some other additions to the site.
And forgot to revisit the question of polls.
Roger brought the subject back up yesterday, so I made the second attempt. The instructions were still bad, and the bugs still there, but I want ahead and pushed through them and go it running.
Poles are for members to post, and are peppered through most of the site. You'll notice they are missing from some of the site related forums, buy and sell, and personals. Clubs, mfg, site forums have them, but only those people moderating those forums can post there. Specifically so they can get feed back.
What's ok to post a poll about. First and foremost it needs to be train or model train related. Second, don't post a poll as a veiled attempt to slam, or open a slam fest. Make them of some value, but becareful. Too many polls, or off topic polls will cause the polls to be ignored, and they won't get used.
I won't, and probably don't need to, go beyond that. Lets see how they go.
N'joy the feature. |

| Like my first and second layout, I planned out the tracks on the ground. Pretty cool way to do it as most of the time, you are always near an power outlet as on a table you you are sometimes not. It may not work for everyone, it is more for the younger modelers. This way, you can actually run your trains before creating a layout and test your tracks. This will allow smoother opperation when you do create a layout. |
