Interchange service has been around since North American railroads used wood burning 4-4-0's - a car may spend it's entire life on it's home rails - or may not see them for years at a time, instead roaming the foreig...  [click to vew more]

WEATHERING QUESTION
I have a orange plastic box car that I sprayed with DULLCOAT and had no results on weathering it. It looks the same as one that I didn't spray. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Ernie

New Kato 70ACEs
Got the new Kato70ACEs today, they look like normal Kato's. AWESOME. I got the Rio Grande heritage unit and the 1st 2 UP units. I tested the unit, it started smoothly and pulled a decent amount of cars without stalling. Ended with about 45 cars on level track, once I get my layout put back together I can break it in properly and really see how they will perform.

It's Time.... 2009 SRO Site Fund Raiser
SRO members; it's that time of year again..... Each year we ask that you consider contributing to the upkeep and operating costs of Scalerailsonline.com.....and now is that time !

SRO is funded by it's owner; Steve and the members of the site through their generous donations. Running a site of this nature has costs; both in time and money and we ask members to help out by donating s few bucks to the fund to help defer the costs and keep SRO operating for the benefit of the entire on line model railroad community.

There is a link at the top under "About SRO" called "Supporting the Site"; follow that link and you will be able to find out about the options available to help support our home ! If you have specific questions, you can PM Steve at SK Moss on the PM system.

I know times are tough and money is tight - that's the world we live in. But helping SRO out with a small donation keeps alive a place where we can enjoy a valuable aspect of our hobby and maintain the relationships we've developed through the various forums and chat options that the site has to offer.

I hope you'll take the opportunity to help out SRO with a donation; I know you'll agree that SRO is worth the time and effort we all put in and will feel that it's worth a small donation to help maintain this unique and valuable website that we've all come to know and enjoy.

On behalf ot the SRO team - Mike (Puddington)

Tips
Easy dirt and grass
Using Mold-a-Scene over your regular landscape will add a strong lightweight shell that appears to look like rock or dirt. To strengthen the mold-a-scene even more, put a layer or two of mod podge over it. Fine scenery dust the color of dirt can follow (also using mod podge) and any other scenery you enjoy can follow. It's the strongest way I know to create scenery.
